The Munsoft Story

Munsoft was established in 2001 and has become one of Southern Africa’s foremost municipal finance software and systems providers. The company provides financial management and internal control systems that enable more than 68+ of the 257 municipalities and 4 Municipal entities across South Africa to ensure financial accountability, transparency and compliance with the required regional government regulations and standards.

The company is expanding into other African countries, including Namibia, eSwatini and Zimbabwe. Munsoft is driven by the desire to create systems that enable financial transparency to the end of helping promote economic development and poverty reduction.

Our solutions are designed to improve governance, administration, transparency and financial management. Through our innovative technology, key stakeholders can track the financial state of various municipalities in real time, allowing them to detect any discrepancies and immediately action effective control or recovery solutions.

Munsoft B-BBEE

Munsoft is committed to the transformation of the South African economy through the promotion of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) framework. The group believes that all South African business enterprises have an obligation to redress the imbalances of the past by facilitating constructive participation by black South Africans at all levels within the economy.

Munsoft recognises the importance of adhering to the B-BBEE codes, as well as the benefits that both Munsoft and the numerous beneficiaries of our various empowerment programs can achieve when our B-BBEE strategy is implemented successfully. We believe we have a responsibility to ensure that our B-BBEE strategy is inclusive, broad-based and sustainable.

Our commitment to transformation is evident from the implementation of our consolidated B-BBEE strategy over the past 12 months, including the various companies within the Munsoft group. Some noteworthy achievements include –

  • The transformation of Munsoft from a 100% white owned company to a 46.50% black owned company.
  • Expenditure of 6.5% of our net profit after tax on enterprise, supplier and socio-economic development initiatives.
  • The successful implementation of a learnership program for 80 unemployed learners.
  • A more representative board with 50% black representation.

Our Advisory services assist in compliance with the Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts (mSCOA), budget reforms and other reporting requirements as per the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).
